Over the weekend, a video purporting to show footage of an alleged remake of Revelations: Persona leaked onto the internet, fueling speculation and debate over whether it’s real or fan-made. The video shows battle and event scenes with an Unreal Engine watermark. One of the main characters from Persona 2 also appears in the footage, fueling speculation that perhaps a Persona 2 remake is also in the works, or that a game somehow combining the first two entries was in the works.
On the side of those claiming this is fan-made, it’s been pointed out that some of the animations are clearly reused from other games, such as Persona 4 Revival. However, assuming the video is real, it’s likely this is a proof-of-concept video and is using existing assets.
We won’t show the footage here, out of respect for Atlus and to avoid spoiling anything. Regardless, the fan reaction suggests that there is genuine interest in remakes of the oldest Persona titles.
