The Pokemon Company and TiMi announced today that Pokemon Unite, the competitive multiplayer Pokemon title for Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, will be ending service on March 23, 2027. The game will run a special event starting November 12 that will last until the game shuts down. The companies assured players that the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament which had been previously announced will still carry on as planned, with qualifiers starting December 5.
As of today, it is no longer possible to activate a new membership to the service, and any automatic renewals have been stopped, as well.
The special event beginning November 12 will include a library feature, which will allow players to obtain items and Holowear that have appeared in the game previously. After service ends in March, players who have completed the necessary library data will still be able to view specific pieces of in-game content. Anyone who hasn’t completed the requirements will be locked out.
Every time a live service game ends, players are reminded of the ephemeral nature of these kinds of games. Hopefully, fans will be able to enjoy their time with the game over the next several months before it is gone forever.

October 27, 2026I played this game consistently for over 5 years. I consider it to be one of my favorite competitive games of all time so I’m pretty bummed about this news. Though I knew the day would come eventually. Sad.
