Square Enix has unleashed the entire Kingdom Hearts collection (minus a mobile game or two) on consoles and PC in one convenient package, and it marks the first time the whole series is properly playable on a Nintendo console. Previously, Kingdom Hearts titles were available on the Nintendo Switch via cloud streaming. Now, Switch 2 owners can play the game natively on the handheld/console hybrid.
KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] collects KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) in one natively playable package.
If you’ve yet to climb aboard the Kingdom Hearts train, this release marks an excellent entry point. Be prepared for a truly epic story that spans universes and manages to marry two of the most seemingly disparate media properties in history: Final Fantasy and Walt Disney.
If you’re a physical collector who likes your games contained on the media you’ve purchased, though, this package unfortunately doesn’t quite achieve that goal. The Switch 2 version is a Game-Key Card, which perhaps isn’t too surprising, but the PlayStation 5 disc version also requires a day-one download, as all the game data doesn’t fit on the single disc.
The games are also available separately in digital form on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S and PC via Microsoft Store on Windows. KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- is now also available natively on Nintendo Switch.
