Square Enix is celebrating 40 years of Final Fantasy with a special music collection, Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary: The Crystal Edition, featuring some of the franchise’s most iconic tracks.
Releasing January 6, 2027, the collection features 16 tracks. Each game in the numbered series gets a track from the original 1987 release through Final Fantasy XVI. I’m sure reactions to which tracks were chosen, and which weren’t, will be healthy online.
The collection will be available in two formats: The Crystal Vinyl Edition, featuring two 12-inch LP records, and a standard CD edition.
This anniversary set includes tracks like “Battle at the Big Bridge” from Final Fantasy V, “Searching for Friends” from Final Fantasy VI, “One-Winged Angel” from Final Fantasy VII, and “Not Alone” from Final Fantasy IX.
On the Japanese site, the vinyl edition costs ¥8,800 (approximately $57 USD). The CD edition is showing ¥3,960 (approximately $26 USD). International pricing hasn’t been announced, so we’ll have to wait to see what it ends up being.
Both editions are listed through the Square Enix Online Store in North America and Europe, as well as CDJapan.
