Falcom Raises Full-Year Forecast After Success of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and Kyoto Xanadu

For the second time this year, Nihon Falcom has raised its annual sales forecast for its fiscal year ending September 2026. The company says this is due to steady sales of its two most recent titles, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and Kyoto Xanadu.

Their projected revenue is up 19.4% compared to its earlier forecast. Truthfully, you could chalk up the earlier estimates to Falcom not being so sure that Kyoto Xanadu would be a hit with audiences. After all, it’s a new entry in a previously dormant franchise for the company. But it was a hit in Japan, which begs the question:

Where’s the Western release?

Kyoto Xanadu made a big splash as part of a Nintendo Direct back in February of this year, and fan expectations were set — perhaps unrealistically — that the game would release in the West at or around the same time as Japan. That has proven to not be the case. In fact, no Western publisher has even been announced at this point.

It will no doubt be an interesting story, when (or if) we ever learn what the holdup has been with Kyoto Xanadu. In the meantime, Western audiences are in love with Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. It currently sits at a 90 on Metacritic.
