BioWare released a statement this morning indicating that their parent company, EA, will be shutting the studio down. This closure is part of the massive layoffs, numbering around 400 people, that EA has been undertaking after going private earlier this year.
The next Mass Effect game was in early development, and at this time it appears that project has been cancelled.
